Gettin' Closer

Well, a second piece of our "great room" got painted today. I took the day off and painted the dining area. We did the kitchen last week, so now we only have the living room left. The dining room is in the middle, so there were only two walls, and one of those walls has a sliding glass door that took up a big chunk of it. It wasn't really too bad at all. The ceiling and the trimming were the worst, as usual.

Tomorrow we are heading to eastern Iowa. My niece, Leah, turns 7 tomorrow (SEVEN!). Where does the time go? Mike & Kelly are having a family birthday party for her at their home in Marion tomorrow evening. After that, we will go back to Mom & Dad's in Monticello (only a 30 minute drive as opposed to 2 hrs). Then on Sunday, we will have lunch with Desi's parents & Grandma Lange before heading back for home.

The week at work started out kinda slow. That all took a turn on Tuesday afternoon. The Sr. VP held a regular monthly meeting with his direct reports (my current boss and my old boss both fall under his chain of command). Turns out that my old department is really behind now, and he is fielding many complaints from our key accounts. He is calling on all other departments to lend a hand and help chargebacks as much as they can. Guess what that means? I get to do some of my old job again. Grr! At least I got almost 2 months out of chargebacks before they drug me back. I knew it was only a matter of time. Back to overtime now. The paychecks will be nicer, but I was really enjoying my 40 hour weeks for a change.
